Home Occupation Application/Permit Cancellation Form


The purpose of this form is to initiate a Home Occupation Application or Permit cancellation request to the Office of the Zoning Administrator at the Department of Buildings. Please note that upon submission of your cancellation request, the specified Home Occupation Permit (HOP) will be cancelled and the authority granted therein is no longer valid. Once the HOP is cancelled, the permit cannot be reactivated. If you wish to conduct this business activity at a later time, a new application, supporting documents, and fees will be required.

Cancellation requests are reviewed and processed within three (3) business days from the date of submission. Once the application/permit has been cancelled you will receive an e-mail notification informing you that your permit/application has been cancelled.

Please Note: In case of a partnership or corporation, upload a statement signed by partner or all corporate officers must accompany this request. The name and address on the Home Occupation Permit must be the same as the filer of this request for cancellation. The responsibility for notifying the DC Department of Finance and Treasury rests with the permit holder.
